SALT & FLOUR BAKERY

At Salt & Flour Bakery,

We embody the vibrant spirit of Argentina. Having brought our heritage from Buenos Aires to LA, our family has cherished birthday flans, lazy Sunday mornings with dulce de leche-filled medialunas, and countless days enjoying handmade, authentic empanadas. These flavors have enriched our lives, and now, we’re excited to share them with you.

EMPANADAS

Argentina's favorite handheld snack

Empanadas are the quintessential Argentinian starter. These savory pastries can be filled with an unlimited array of fillings ranging from beef and vegetables to various cheeses and even fruit preserves. When baked to a crusty perfection, trust us, you can’t have just one. We offer two sizes: the classic is a great size for a light lunch at 5.5 inches across. The mini is a perfect hors d’oeuvres size for hosting groups.

All empanada orders come with a side of chimichurri.

$6.00 - Classic Size (Minimum order of 4)

$2.50 - Mini Size (Minimum order of two dozen)
*available as gluten-free (add $.50 each)

  • This one is a take on Argentinian Fugazzetta pizza. Made with sauteed onions, chunks of mozzarella cheese, and ample amounts of oregano and red pepper flakes. It's a must-try.

  • This empanada is an Argentine classic. Made with corn kernels as well as cream of corn, combined with sauteed onions, bechamel sauce and the perfect seasonings.

  • Our chicken empanada involves poaching tender breast and thigh meat in broth and combining it with sauteed onions, red bell peppers, and garlic. A flavor bomb that does not disappoint.

  • Succulent and juicy. Our beef is sauteed with onions, red bell peppers, and fresh tomatoes, and cooked to perfection in broth. Morsels of hard-boiled egg and green olives are tucked in to accentuate the flavors of Buenos Aire

  • Flaky crust on the outside and a combination of succulent Argentinian chorizo and melted provolone cheese on the inside. It’s rich—it’s smooth—it’s delicious.

  • Our spinach empanada is made with freshly steamed spinach (never frozen) combined with sauteed onions and a creamy bechamel sauce. Veggie heaven.

CHIMICHURRI

Often seen drizzled on Argentinian carne asada, this refreshing marinade is not traditionally used on empanadas— but I won’t tell if you won’t. Fresh Italian parsley, minced garlic, oregano and chili flakes are combined with a lemony dressing to create the perfect dipping sauce. Every order comes with a side of chimichurri, but if you’re looking for a generous portion, you can order a jar. You won’t regret it!

$10 - 8 oz. Jar of Chimichurri

Artisanal Breads

Sourdough bread has a special place in the history of Buenos Aires, shaped by waves of European immigration, especially from Spain, Italy, and France. Back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these immigrant communities brought their sourdough baking techniques, which quickly became part of the city’s food scene.

In Argentina, we call sourdough "pan de masa madre," which means "mother dough bread," a type of bread made entirely with wild yeast, giving it a distinct flavor and texture. Today, local bakers blend the old European traditions with indigenous ingredients, creating unique sourdough varieties that celebrate the heart of Buenos Aires.

At Salt and Flour, we honor these classic sourdough methods to craft delicious "pan de masa madre" loaves with a Los Angeles twist. You can really taste the influences of the diverse immigrant communities that have made LA their home in the variety of loaves we offer.

$11.00 - Sourdough

$14.00 - All Other Bread Varieties

  • Embrace the simple joys of life with our rustic sourdough. With its golden crust and tender, airy crumb, it’s the perfect companion for any meal or a lovely glass of wine alongside a cheese board.

  • Our kalamata olive bread features a crisp crust and a soft interior punctuated by chunks of olive goodness. It’s perfect for elevating sandwiches or simply enjoying with a drizzle of olive oil.

  • Our herb-infused bread, layered with fragrant thyme, rosemary and a hint of lemon zest is perfect with a pat of butter and a sprinkling of salt flakes.

  • This loaf doesn’t need anything to make it complete. Savory with a hint of spice, it’s delicious on its own, but works well with chili or soups. My favorite pairing is tomato soup!

FLAN

Flan is a beloved dessert that embodies the sweet simplicity of traditional Argentine cuisine. This smooth custard, made from eggs, milk, and sugar, is baked to perfection, resulting in a silky texture that melts in your mouth. Topped with a luscious caramel sauce, each bite offers a perfect balance of sweetness and richness. Often served with a dollop of whipped cream and a spoonful of dulce de leche, Argentine flan is a nostalgic favorite, enjoyed at family gatherings, celebrations, or simply as a comforting treat.

$25 - 1 Flan

For larger gatherings, ask us about our mini flans—perfectly portioned to each guest to add a special touch to any celebration!
